Bach Collegium Stuttgart, a German instrumental ensemble founded in 1965 by church musician Helmuth Rilling, served as the musical partner of the Gächinger Kantorei Stuttgart. The ensemble operated on a project‑based model, drawing experienced soloists from major orchestras. During the following decade, they issued successive volumes of Bach cantatas, touring internationally at festivals in Salzburg, Vienna, Berlin, London, Prague, Lucerne, and Strasbourg. In 1981, the ensemble and Gächinger Kantorei became part of the International Bach Academy Stuttgart. Under successor Hans‑Christoph Rademann, the two merged into a single choir‑orchestra, and the Bach‑Collegium was replaced by a new Baroque orchestra. Since 2016, the unified ensemble has performed under the name Gaechinger Cantorey, continuing the Bach‑centric performance tradition.
