Anorexia Nervosa is a French symphonic black metal band from Limoges, formed in 1991 as Necromancia. The group released their first demo, The Garden of Delight, in 1993, followed by a second demo, Nihil Negativum, in 1995. After signing with Season of Mist, they released their debut studio album, Exile (1997), which gained them underground attention for its dark industrial sound. Following the addition of vocalist RMS Hreidmarr and keyboardist Neb Xort, they signed with Osmose Productions to release the EP Sodomizing the Archedangel (1999) and the studio album Drudenhaus in March 2000. Subsequent albums New Obscurantis Order (2001) and Redemption Process (2004) solidified their symphonic black metal style. They toured extensively with acts such as Cradle of Filth and Rotting Christ. Before going on hiatus, the group released The September E.P. (2005). Following the departure of Hreidmarr on December 20, 2005, the group entered an indefinite standstill.
