Miranda Sex Garden, a British band from London, was formed in 1990 by Katharine Blake, Kelly McCusker, and Jocelyn West. The trio, originally madrigal singers educated at The Purcell School for Young Musicians, gained initial experience busking on the streets of London. Their breakthrough came when Barry Adamson invited them to sing "Il Solitario" on his Delusion soundtrack, leading to a contract with Mute Records. In 1991, they released their debut single "Gush Forth My Tears" and their first album Madra. The band evolved musically, incorporating violins and additional members like multi-instrumentalist Ben Golomstock and drummer Trevor Sharpe. Notable collaborations included performances with Curve, Nick Cave, and work on Derek Jarman's Blue soundtrack. After several lineup changes and the release of Fairytales Of Slavery in 1994, Miranda Sex Garden went on hiatus before releasing Carnival of Souls in 2000.
