Zarif Davidson, known professionally as Zarif, is an English singer-songwriter born in Harrow, London. Growing up, she was influenced by artists such as Michael Jackson and Stevie Wonder. Zarif's music career began with performances at open mic events in London, leading to collaborations with the Nextmen on their 2007 album This Was Supposed to Be the Future. In 2007, she signed with RCA Records and released her debut single "Let Me Back" in 2009. Zarif supported Beyoncé during the UK leg of her I Am... World Tour that year and performed at festivals including Glastonbury and V Festival. After being dropped by RCA Records, Zarif established Bright Pink Records and released her debut album Box of Secrets in 2009. In December 2013, she premiered new material under the name Mona Lisa Veto.
