Altar of Plagues was an Irish black metal band formed in 2006 in Cork by James Kelly. The band gained attention with their debut album White Tomb, released in 2009 on Profound Lore Records. Their critically acclaimed album Mammal, released in 2011, was ranked at number 18 on Pitchfork Media’s list of the 40 Best Albums of the Year. In June 2013, Altar of Plagues announced their disbandment, concluding with a final performance at the Unsound Festival in Poland in October 2013. The band reunited in 2015 for one last tour across Europe.
