Pan Sonic was a Finnish electronic music duo consisting of Mika Vainio and Ilpo Väisänen, formed in 1993 in Turku. Originally known as Panasonic, the group changed its name due to legal conflict with the Japanese electronics corporation. Their early performances included a concert at Berlin's Tresor club on July 2, 1994. The group released its debut album, Vakio, in September 1995 under the Blast First label, after which Sami Salo departed. Subsequent album releases include Aaltopiiri (2001), Kesto (2004), and Katodivaihe (2007). In 2001, the duo embarked on an eight-week global tour covering Asia, Australia, North America, South America, and Europe. They collaborated with artists such as Alan Vega of Suicide and Barry Adamson, and released their final studio album, Gravitoni, in 2010 before disbanding.
