The Heartbreaks was an English alternative rock band from Morecambe, Lancashire, formed in 2009. The group consisted of vocalist Matthew Whitehouse, songwriter and drummer Joseph Kondras, guitarist Ryan Wallace, and bassist Christopher 'Deaks' Deakin. Their breakthrough came in February 2010 with the inclusion of an early demo of the song “Jealous, Don't You Know” on the Fierce Panda compilation EP Rip It Up. Their debut single, “Liar, My Dear”, was released through the Parlophone subsidiary Seven Sevens in March 2010, followed by the single “I Didn't Think It Would Hurt To Think Of You” in August 2010. Their first album, Funtimes (2012), achieved success in Japan, where the lead single, “Delay, Delay”, spent eight weeks on the Japan Hot 100 chart and peaked at number 9. In April 2013, they released a collaborative single with Edwyn Collins titled “What Are You Doing, Fool?” for Record Store Day. They released their second album, We May Yet Stand A Chance, on June 2, 2014, which was preceded by the singles “Hey, Hey Lover” and “Absolved”. The group disbanded in 2015.
