Rémi Sztern, known as Tiwayo, was born on 19 September 1986 in Paris, France. He adopted the stage name Tiwayo from the initials TYO (for "The Young Old"). Tiwayo released his debut single "Wild" in April 2018, followed by "Love Me Like You Say" and "A Place to Call My Own" later that year. In March 2019, he issued his first full‑length album, The Gypsy Soul of Tiwayo, on Blue Note/Decca France, described as a blend of soul, blues, and rock. Four years later, Desert Dream arrived on Time and Place Records/Yotanka Records, noted for its 1960s‑70s rock atmosphere. In 2026, Tiwayo followed up with Outsider, a retro-soul album featuring the singles "I've Got to Travel Alone", "Up for Soul" and "Sunshine Lady", along with collaborations wiith Kendra Morris and Doyle Bramhall II.
