The Night Eternal is a German heavy‑metal group formed in Essen in late 2018 by vocalist Ricardo Baum, guitarists Rob Richter and Henry Käseberg, bassist Jones Nühlen, and drummer Aleister Präkelt, all of whom had previously played in death‑metal, hard‑rock, and thrash‑metal projects. The band’s breakthrough came with the self‑titled EP The Night Eternal released in July 2019 through Dying Victims Productions, which included original tracks and a cover of Judas Priest’s "Take These Chains". In 2020, the single "Shadow’s Servants" was released as a 7" on Ván Records, followed by the debut studio album Moonlit Cross in November 2021, which achieved second place in Metal Hammer’s monthly soundcheck and third in Rock Hard, earning the band the title of Newcomer of the Year by Deaf Forever. The second album Fatale dropped in July 2023, topping Rock Hard’s soundcheck and receiving praise for its increased intensity. The band toured extensively, including appearances at Wacken Open Air 2023, Party.San Metal Open Air 2023, and a UK tour with Blind Guardian in April 2024. Bassist Jones Nühlen departed in January 2024 and was replaced by Jannik Stüber, who became a permanent member in October 2024.
