French Kicks were an American indie rock and post-punk revival ensemble from New York City active between 1998 and 2009. The ensemble was founded by Jamie Krents, Nick Stumpf, and Matthew Stinchcomb, who met at Oberlin College before relocating to Brooklyn and adding Josh Wise. They achieved professional recognition for their debut studio recording One Time Bells (2002). Krents departed the group in 2003 and was replaced on bass by Lawrence Stumpf. Their recording career includes the studio recordings The Trial of the Century (2004) and Two Thousand (2006). The ensemble achieved professional recognition for the track “So Far We Are” (2006), the video for which featured actress Olivia Wilde. Their discography includes the studio recording Swimming (2008).
