dISEMBOWELMENT was an Australian death-doom band formed in Melbourne in November 1989. The group initially consisted of Renato Gallina on guitar and vocals, and Paul Mazziotta on drums. In 1991, lead guitarist Jason Kells and bassist Matthew Skarajew joined the lineup. Their first demo, Mourning September, was released in September 1990 with session bassist Dean Ruprich. In 1992, the band's second demo, Deep Sensory Perception into Aural Fate, was released through Relapse Records as the EP Dusk. Their debut studio album, Transcendence into the Peripheral, followed in September 1993. dISEMBOWELMENT disbanded shortly after its release and never performed live. The band was noted for its atmospheric death-doom style. In 2005, Relapse Records re-released their catalogue as the compilation Disembowelment.
