He began his musical career while also pursuing acting, initially appearing on stage with his father John Carradine in Shakespearean productions. His breakthrough moment came when he was cast in the original Broadway run of Hair (1969), where he started in the chorus and eventually took on lead roles playing Woof and Claude. Carradine's musical career includes the release of two albums, I'm Easy (1976) and Lost And Found (1978). His most notable song is "I'm Easy" (1975), which gained significant attention. The song was featured in Robert Altman’s critically acclaimed film Nashville, where Carradine played the role of Tom Frank, a callow, womanizing folk singer.
