Tuck & Patti is an American jazz duo consisting of guitarist Tuck Andress, born William Charles Andress in Tulsa, Oklahoma, United States, on October 28, 1952, and singer Patti Cathcart, born Patricia Cathcart in San Francisco, California, United States, on October 4, 1949. Both classically trained—Andress at Stanford University and Cathcart in San Francisco—the pair met at an audition in San Francisco in 1978 and married in 1983. After performing in a rock and roll cover band while refining their duo arrangements, they signed with Windham Hill Jazz in 1987 and released their debut studio album, Tears of Joy, in 1988. Their subsequent studio albums include Love Warriors in 1989, Dream in 1991, Learning How to Fly on Epic Records in 1995, Paradise Found in 1998, Taking the Long Way Home in 2000, Chocolate Moment on 33rd Street Records in 2002, and A Gift of Love in 2004 and I Remember You in 2007 on their own label, T&P Records. Andress is recognized for his percussive tapping guitar techniques playing a 1953 Gibson L-5, while Cathcart serves as lead vocalist and arranger. In addition to teaching music workshops, the duo co-produced Denise S. Young's album, Denise Young, Soprano, in 2019.
