The Early Years, an English rock band from Hackney, London, formed in 2004 by David Malkinson, Roger Mackin, and Brendan Kersey. They were initially championed by Radio 1 DJs Steve Lamacq and Huw Stephens, leading to a deal with Beggars Banquet Records. The band released their self-titled album in 2006, which received critical acclaim. They toured extensively across the UK, Europe, and the United States, including performances at South By Southwest. The band went on hiatus in 2008 but reformed in 2011 with a new double A-side single "Complicity / Fallen Star". In 2016, they released their second album II, which was self-recorded and mixed at Abbey Road Studios. In 2017, the band performed at several UK festivals, including Standon Calling, Bluedot, and Simple Things, and played a London show to support the release of their Remixes EP. In early 2018, Mylar Melodies joined the group as a full-time member after previously touring with the band in support of their album II.
