King Django, born Jeffrey Baker, is an American singer-songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist from Brooklyn, New York, United States. After taking up the trombone at age nineteen, Baker co-led the rocksteady group The Boilers from 1986 to 1988, establishing a presence in the New York music scene. In late 1988, Baker formed the group Skinnerbox, blending reggae, ska, and other genres, and launched the label Stubborn Records in 1992 to release the band's debut studio album Tales of the Red (1993). In 1994, Baker assembled the group Stubborn All-Stars, releasing the EP Old's Cool (1994). His solo albums include King Django's Roots & Culture (1998), Reason (2001), A Single Thread (2004), and Brooklyn Hangover (2010). Baker toured extensively, completing the Echo Mix tour in late 2011 and performing at the Institute of Jamaica in Kingston, Jamaica, in February 2013.
