Edmond Hall, born on May 15, 1901 in Reserve, Louisiana, was an American jazz clarinetist and bandleader. From a musical family, Hall started playing guitar before switching to the clarinet. He performed with various bands in New Orleans, including those led by Bud Rousell and Lee Collins. In 1928, he moved to New York City and joined Claude Hopkins' orchestra. Hall gained recognition through collaborations with Billie Holiday and Henry "Red" Allen. His style evolved under the influence of Benny Goodman and Artie Shaw, leading him to form ensembles like Edmond Hall's Blue Note Jazzmen and the Edmond Hall Sextet. His 1941 recording "Profoundly Blue" was particularly notable. He also performed with Louis Armstrong’s All Stars and Eddie Condon’s band. Hall passed away on February 11, 1967.
