The New Black is a German hard rock band from Würzburg. Formed in 2007, the ensemble consists of vocalist Markus Hammer, guitarists Christof Leim and Fabian Schwarz, bassist Günther Auschrat and drummer Philipp Klinger. Following its formation, the group released a demo in 2008 that received recognition from the publications Metal Hammer and Rock Hard. After signing with the label AFM Records, the band released its eponymous debut studio album, The New Black, in 2009. The record featured the track “Ballad of Broken Angels”. Their recording history featured the studio albums II: Better in Black (2011) and III: Cut Loose (2013).
