With their hearts in the Deep South of America and their guitar riffs influenced by the deepest, darkest heavy metal, Black Stone Cherry take a stance as as cross between Lynyrd Skynyrd's and Black Sabbath. Featuring John Fred Young - the son of Kentucky Headhunters' guitarist Richard Young - on drums, the band have gigged extensively since their formation in 2001, furiously thrashing their way across the States and into Europe in support of debut album 'Black Stone Cherry' in 2006. Embraced by an ever-growing fan base, tour slots accompanying Whitesnake, Def Leppard and Nickelback took them to arena-sized audiences and paved the way for festival appearances at Download in 2008 and 2009. Recorded with Ozzy Osbourne and Alice Cooper producer Bob Marlette, their second album 'Folklore and Superstition' (2008) made it into the top 30 in both the UK and the US, buoyed by the singles 'Blind Man', 'Please Come In' and 'Soulcreek'. Third album 'Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea' came in 2011 along with a nomination for a Classic Rock Award. After touring with Rival Sons, Chickenfoot, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Bad Company, they began work on their fourth album 'Magic Mountain', which they released in 2014. The album reached number four in the UK Albums Chart and the band announced they were taking a short break. They returned in 2015 with the news that they had signed to the Mascot Label Group and of their fifth album 'Kentucky'. They followed this in 2018 with EP 'Black to Blues' featuring covers of songs by Willie Dixon, Freddie King, McKinley Morganfield and Booker T. Jones.
