Nouveau titre ! Voyage avec nous à Cap Canamera 🗾
When Achille and Quentin meet for the first time, it is under the heat of a fire. They don't know it yet but this incident in front of the "Temps Machine" - the SMAC of Tours - will be the birth of Vol de nuit.
For almost 3 years, they will never stop building a singular dancing pop: a boosted drum, an impacting and melodic bass and a deep guitar. The singing, atypical and visceral, depicts wandering and personal quest, between imaginary landscapes and obscure cities. The choice to sing in English was soon abandoned for French. And for good reason, it was a real revelation for Achille, allowing him to unleash his creativity, full of nuances.
If, despite common influences (The Cure, Beach Fossils, La Femme, Odezenne, Indochine...), the French pop of Vol de nuit is so personal, it is because the three musicians are at the crossroads of different experiences and universes. While Quentin plays live concerts in a dream-pop band (Öslo) as a bass player, Achille started playing post-rock in 2012 (Old Nobility), then became a singer in a funk band in Lille. He finally finishes a training in a music school.
This acquired maturity allows Vol de nuit to record a five-track EP, mixing new-wave influences with 80's sounds, a touching voice - sometimes bordering on rap - with the support of an intense and percussive bass-drum duo. March 7, 2020 marks the official start of Vol de nuit adventure. The single "L'arène" is released on all streaming platforms, with a video clip available on Youtube. The critics are eloquent: "stylized images depicting disturbing night scenes" for Boulimique de Musique, "a first clip for the French band that offers an atypical rock, hovering, and perfect for our night strolls..." for Aficia.
Vol de nuit doesn't intend to stop there: after having produced "L'arène" and "Cap Canamera" - their second single - they only have one thing to do: seduce a faithful public by playing all over France.
