JP Reynolds (born Rodney Jeremiah Reynolds) is an innovative artist, rapper and songwriter with an eclectic sound. The creator of “rap gumbo,” his music is a powerful blend of jazz, funk, gospel and soul. A rapper who performs with live music, JP is often described as Ms. Lauryn Hill and Jimi Hendrix’s musical love child.
In 2017, he formed The Peace and Power Band with Musical Director and Bassist, Criston Oates.
JP Reynolds and the Peace and Power Band have been featured on BRIC TV's 'B-Side' and AllHipHop.com. They have performed at South by Southwest (SXSW), the Revolt Music Conference and the 50th Anniversary March on Washington. They frequent the New York City music circuit and have performed at venues, including B.B. King Blues Club & Grill, The Apollo Theater Soundstage, Silvana, The Shrine, Mercury Lounge, Knitting Factory, and Arlene's Grocery.
Born in Cleveland, Ohio, JP was raised in Mt. Vernon, New York. He is currently based in Harlem, NY and tours, nationally.
