Benzine was born from the collaboration of Farid Belayat and Samir Mohellebi, both based in Marseille. This project is driven by an interest in Algerian raï and a desire to write contemporary poetry sung in the Bedouin style. Inspired by the great names of Raï, Benzine transcends the genre and offers an innovative repertoire, "a fuel for our hearts."
Between France and Algeria, the duo builds bridges between styles to create a dialogue between Mediterranean cultures. This cultural blending forges connections between sounds, territories, and people.
Their universe is composed of both analog and digital electronics, blending traditional rhythms with modern sounds. Farid and Samir navigate through genres and deliver transcendent music.
