Biografia

Originally hailing from Morton, Pennsylvania, American soul singer-songwriter Devon Gilfillian, is based in Nashville, Tennessee. Growing up, his father was a singer and percussionist in a local band, inspiring Gilfillian to pick up the guitar at age 14, playing in a group called Black Sheep while he was still in high school. In 2013, after relocating to Nashville, Gilfillian joined a local blues cover band. His debut self-titled EP, characterised by gospel-inspired blues-rock, was released in 2016, with major label debut album, Black Hole Rainbow, appearing on January 10, 2020 under Capitol Records. The record, featuring production from Shawn Everett and co-writing from Jamie Lidell, received a Grammy Award nomination in 2021 for Best Engineered Album (Non-Classical). Three singles from Black Hole Rainbow, made their mark on the Billboard Adult Alternative Songs chart, including "Unchained" (number 7), "Get Out and Get It" (number 12) and "The Good Life" (number 5). On October 22, 2020, Gilfillian released a track-by-track cover of Marvin Gaye's 1971 album, What's Going On with sophomore studio album, Love You Anyway appearing in April the following year. Produced by Jeremy Lutito, the record featured the single "All I Really Wanna Do," which peaked at number 6 on Billboard's Adult Alternative Songs chart, and "Love You Anyway," which peaked at number 39.
