Divan Gattamorta is a celebrated Brazilian composer and multi-instrumentalist, whose primary performance instruments are the saxophone and clarinet.
With a rich musical background rooted in various instruments including the acoustic guitar, percussion, and wind instruments, Gattamorta initially built a solid career as a musician, frequently performing alongside many well-regarded Brazilian artists.
Since 1985, he has been dedicated to the academic and artistic field at UNICAMP University, where he serves the Department of Corporal Arts (Departamento de Artes Corporais). His deep engagement with movement and rhythm within this department fueled his fascination with the symbiotic relationship between music and dance, inspiring his transition into full-time composition.
Gattamorta has established a robust international career creating original scores specifically for dance. His prolific portfolio includes over 80 original soundtracks commissioned by diverse dance companies in Brazil and abroad. His music transcends borders, being utilized both in professional theatrical performances and in contemporary and modern dance classrooms across the globe.
