Nicholas Christian Giacomini, known professionally as MC Yogi, was born on 26 August 1979 in San Francisco. He began rapping at age 13 and started practicing yoga at 17 while living in a group home for at-risk youth. His first teacher was Larry Schultz. MC Yogi released his debut album Elephant Power in September 2008, which marked the beginning of his music career. In November 2007, he released his single "Vote for Hope" promoting Barack Obama's presidential campaign; it went viral on YouTube in 2008 and was a significant milestone. His subsequent album Pilgrimage (June 2012) included the notable song "Be the Change (The Story of Mahatma Gandhi)", produced to celebrate Gandhi Jayanti in October 2012. In April 2014, he released Mantras, Beats & Meditations. He amassed a further stack of releases during the 2010s and 2020s, including the Ritual Mystical LP featuring East Forest in 2016 and Sound Patterns (Instrumentals)in 2024 with John Pattern.
