Biografia

Scottish singer-songwriter Amy Macdonald (born on August 25, 1987) rocketed to stardom when her debut album This Is the Life topped the UK Albums Chart in 2007, selling more than 3 million copies. With a distinctive style that blended catchy pop with modern songwriting, she reached Number 12 on the UK Singles Chart with “Mr. Rock & Roll” and soon established herself as a major talent, having already appeared at most of the leading rock festivals. Originally inspired by Travis, Macdonald was 12 years old when she borrowed her father's acoustic guitar and taught herself their songs. By her mid-teens, she was writing her own music and answered an advertisement in the NME from a production company run by Pete Wilkinson and Sarah Erasmus looking for new artists. Her subsequent demos resulted in offers from several major record labels and she jumped into the spotlight with This Is the Life. She shot back into the public eye in 2010 with the single “Don't Tell Me That It's Over,” followed by her second album, A Curious Thing. She toured Europe and the UK before beginning work on her third album, Life in a Beautiful Light, which she released in 2012, with her fourth record, Under Stars, coming out in 2017. In 2018, she revealed an album of greatest hits titled Woman of the World (The Best of 2007-2018) and announced a European tour for 2019. Preceded by lead single “The Hudson,” which peaked at Number 26 on the Scottish Singles Chart, and “Crazy Shade of Blue,” her fifth studio album The Human Demands came out in 2020. This most recent release found Macdonald exploring themes of maturity and mental health while looking back on her 13-year career.
