Biografia

Stephan Moccio – born on October 20, 1972, in St. Catherines, Ontario, Canada – is Grammy and Academy Award-nominated songwriter, pianist, producer, arranger, and recording artist. While he has released a handful of solo albums, he is best known for co-writing hits for other artists including The Weeknd (“Earned It”), Celine Dion (“A New Day Has Come”), Miley Cyrus (“Wrecking Ball”), and many others. Stephan Moccio grew up in Niagara Falls and began studying the piano at the age of 3 years old. Focusing on classical piano, he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Western Ontario. Although he was offered a scholarship at the Berklee School of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, he decided to pursue a songwriting career and signed a deal with Sony/ATV Music Publishing. While working on his songwriting craft, he earned a living as a session musician, arranger, and producer. During this period, his songs were recorded by a variety of artists including Celine Dion, Josh Groban, Sarah Brightman, and others. In the mid-1990s, he began composing TV themes for Canadian television shows. In 2002, Celine Dion released the Number 1 single “A New Day Has Come”, which Stephan Moccio co-wrote with Canadian musician Aldo Nova. Stephan Moccio left Sony/ATV and started his own publishing company and set up his own recording studio. He released his debut solo album, Exposure, in 2006. In 2010, he cowrote “I Believe” – performed by Nikki Yanofsky - for the 2010 Winter Olympics. That same year, he issued his second album, Color, which he followed two years later with the album Elements. . Stephan Moccio relocated to Los Angeles, California in 2013 and continued to write hits for other artists while work on solo material. He co-wrote two songs featured on the soundtrack of the 2015 film 50 Shades of Grey: “Earned It” (The Weeknd) and “I Know You” (Skylar Grey). In 2020, he released the album Tales of Solace, followed a year later by the album Lionheart.
