Monkey Swallows the Universe was an acoustic/indie band from Sheffield, England. Formed in 2003 by Nat Johnson and Kevin Gori, they released their debut album The Bright Carvings in February 2006 on Thee Sheffield Phonographic Corporation. The band gained attention through BBC radio appearances and supporting tours for artists like Richard Hawley. In August 2007, they signed to Loose Records and released their second album The Casket Letters, which included the single "Little Polveir". They performed at several UK festivals, including Latitude and Green Man, and released a download-only single "Bloodline" in September 2007. Monkey Swallows the Universe announced an indefinite hiatus in December 2007 and played their last show in February 2008.
