Rodney S. Clark is better known as El Chombo, Panamanian charting, best-selling, urban music producer, hit songwriter and recording artist. He is widely regarded as influential in the dissemination of early reggaeton in 1992.
Throughout the tropical and Latin American music worlds, he is best known for the multi-volume reggaeton mix series “Cuentos de la Cripta” ( Tales of the Crypt), with his most famous hits: “El Gato Volador”, “Mueve Mami”,
and in the Anglo world for the singles/viral videos
“Chacarron macarron ” single charting in 2006 and of course “Dame tu Cosita” charting in 1998 and Billboard’s Latin Chart No.1 hit in 2018 with 7 platinum discs.
In 1985 he began working as a DJ in a Panamanian radio station and on the weekends for one of the biggest sound systems in the country.
In 1987 he became a radio producer and voiceover talent, which brought him nearly instant recognition in the media. His first music production was in 1993, a cover classic Latin song "Perfidia” performed by Natali and Gringoman.
In 1995 he introduced his first volume mixes known as “Spanish Oil”; between 1995 and by the end of the century he issued five volumes in the series, all which are collector’s items.
In December 1997, he released “Cuentos de la Cripta Vol.2 “, the source track of “Dame tu cosita”; in 1998 we got “Cuentos de la Cripta Vol.3 Where “El Gato Volador” appeared for the first time. Another famous release was “La Mafia” Vol. 1 and 2,
But the most recognized albums and also considered by the latin American music industry as one of the earliest reggaeton productions in the world is Cuentos de la Cripta (Tales of the Crypt) El Chombo issued four consecutive volumes in this series.
By 2003, El Chombo worked on Lorna’s “Papi chulo” produccion that came to life as a worldwide known reggaeton song. This song became Europe’s No1 song of the summer that year.
And in 2005 he produced the song Chacarron Macarron which is a collaboration between El Chombo and Andy’s Val Gourmet .
This song landed on the No. 3 spot on the British Charts for 2006 and is known actually as one of TikTok’s biggest viral songs of all time.
