Christopher Martin is a dancehall artist who began building momentum throughout his native Jamaica in 2005, following his first-place finish on the American Idol-themed singing competition Rising Stars. Born in the parish of Saint Catherine on February 14, 1987, he sharpened his musical gifts as a child and auditioned for Rising Stars two years after his high school graduation. The show proved to a launchpad for his career, introducing Christopher Martin's blend of pop influences and reggae traditions to a national audience. He began releasing original material one year later, beginning with "Don't Go." Subsequent singles like "Take My Wings," "Giving It," "Paper Loving," and "Cheater's Prayer" all became hits in Jamaica, while "Jamaican Girls" found him collaborating with Busy Signal. Looking to spread his music beyond the confines of his home country, Christopher Martin signed with VP Records in 2013, toured Zimbabwe in 2016, and released his global debut, Big Deal, in 2017. Big Deal featured many of his previously-released hits, as well as the Destiny Moriah duet "Long Distance Lover" and a remix of "Under the Influence." And Then followed in 2019, featuring dancehall anthems, acoustic songs, and even a remake of Mr. Big's hard-rock power ballad, "To Be with You."
