Biografia

Los Nocheros is a group from Argentina, known as one of the country’s most prominent folk pop acts. The band was founded in Salta, Argentina, in 1986 by vocalists Mario Teruel and Rubén Sergio Ehizaguirre, though it soon expanded into a four-piece including César Kike Teruel and Enrique "Pala" Aguilera. This line-up recorded their first albums, including their 1987 debut Al Rojo Vivo and 1990’s Nuestra Salta. Los Nocheros performed all over Argentina, carved a niche for themselves with their unique sound and their modern take on the folk music tradition from the Argentine North. Over the following years, they earned awards such as the 1994 Cosquin Revelation Award and the 1999 Gardel Award for Best Folklore Album and Album of the Year. 1998 saw the release of their critically acclaimed album Signos, and in 1999 they released one of the most famous songs of their career with the single "Entre la Tierra y el Cielo." In 2000, they made history as the first folklore artists to sell out Buenos Aires’s Velez Sarsfield Stadium. In 2005, Álvaro Teruel joined the group, and in 2010 they went on their first European tour. In 2016, the group became the most awarded artist in Gardel Award history after winning their sixteenth Gardel Award. The group’s 30th anniversary saw them touring the entire country and releasing the album Nocheros 30 Años. Over the course of 2020, the group recorded a series of live streaming performances playing their first couple of LPs, a highlight of which is "Juan de la Calle" from their live album Con El Alma (Sesiones 2020).
