Biografia

Born on 7 July 1963 in New York City and raised in California, Vonda Shepard made a name for herself as the familiar face and voice on the hit late 1990s TV show All McBeal, performing the iconic theme tune "Searchin' My Soul" as well as regularly performing on the show as a fictionalised version of herself. Prior to that, she began honing her skills as a backup singer for Jackson Browne before joining forces with Dan Hill for the 1987 duet "Can't We Try," which marked her first US chart appearance. Her debut self-titled studio album for Reprise arrived in 1989, with its successor, The Radical Light, following in 1992, but she was subsequently dropped by the label and spent the next few years lighting up the LA music scene. After earning a fan in TV producer David E. Kelley, her big break arrived in 1997 by way of a placement on his new TV show, Ally McBeal. "Searchin' My Soul" from her album The Radical Light was selected as the theme tune and she went on to lock down four soundtrack albums and one compilation album for the legal comedy, which ran from 1997 until 2002. The success of the show ultimately helped to boost her career and she went on to release a slew of studio albums in its wake, from 1999's By 7:30, which cracked the UK Top 40, and 2008's From the Sun to 2015's Rookie. 2022 saw the release of new album Red Light, Green Light.
