Biografia

Born on December 28th, 1974 in San Francisco (California), singer-songwriter Jocelyn Enriquez made history as one of the first Philippine-American faces of dance music in the 1990s. As the first signing to Classified Records, she unveiled a debut single, “I’ve Been Thinking About You”, in 1994. Entering the Billboard Hot 100 at number 80, the track served as the lead single from her first album, Lovely, which landed later the same year. An alternative Far East Mix of the single proved popular among fans of Latin freestyle music; Enriquez would later explore this genre further, leading some followers to label her the ‘Queen of Freestyle’. In 1996, she released “Do You Miss Me?”, the first single from her eponymous second album, Jocelyn. Peaking at number 49 in the US – a career high – and reaching number seven in Singapore and twelve in Canada, the track laid the foundations for her Billboard 200 debut, with Jocelyn peaking at number 182. The album produced another hit, 1997’s “A Little Bit of Ecstasy'', which topped the Billboard Dance Chart and led her to win a Bammie Award. Teaming up with Amber and Ultra Naté in 1998 to form the supergroup Stars on 54, Enriquez recorded a cover of Gordon Lightfoot’s “If You Could Read My Mind” for the film 54, which entered the Hot 100 at number 52. She later joined forces with production team Thunderpuss at the start of the millennium for “When I Get Close to You” as well as a contribution to Disney’s 102 Dalmations soundtrack. Her third LP, All My Life, arrived via her newly formed label, JEM Entertainment, in 2003. Spawning another hit in the form of “No Way No How”, it marked Enriquez’s last release for some fifteen years. She returned in 2018 with a new single, “To Be in Love Again”, followed by a 2019 Philippines tour and another new song in 2020, “Beauty Comes Through Pain”.
