Kontrust

Kontrust is an Austrian crossover band from Vienna that formed in 2001. The ensemble emerged from the group Suicide Mission and is famous for performing in traditional Austrian Tyrolean shorts. They released the EPs Teamspirit 55 (2001) and Make Me Blind (2003) before releasing their debut studio album, We!come Home, (2005). The group won the Austrian Newcomer Award in 2006 and achieved an international breakthrough with the single “Bomba” (2009), which reached Number 1 on the Dutch iTunes rock chart. Their second studio album, Time to Tango, (2009) also charted in the Netherlands. In 2010, they received the Amadeus Austrian Music Award in the Hard & Heavy category. After signing with Napalm Records, they released the studio albums Second Hand Wonderland (2012) and Explositive (2014), the former reaching number 25 on the Austrian charts. The vocalist Julia Ivanova and the drummer Joey Sebald joined the ensemble in 2022 to replace Agata Jarosz and Roman Gaisböck. Their later recordings include the studio album Madworld (2023) and the single “I Like to Move It” (2025).
