David Glen Eisley was born September 5, 1952 in Los Angeles, California. While in high school, he played drums for the band Mammoth, an Iron Butterfly cover band. Eisley is most well known for being the lead singer for the AOR bands Sorcery (1980–1983) and Giuffria (1983–1988). His biggest success came with the band Giuffria, when their hit single "Call to the Heart" reached number 15 on the Billboard Hot 100 in early 1985. He released several solo albums, including Stranger from the Past (2000) and Tattered Torn & Worn... (2019). Eisley co-wrote the rock ballad "Sweet Victory" with Bob Kulick through Arista Records in 1997. The song gained renewed popularity after being featured in the SpongeBob SquarePants episode "Band Geeks" in 2001. The song reached number 23 on the Hot Rock Songs chart in February 2019 and was used during that year's Super Bowl halftime show to honor SpongeBob creator Stephen Hillenburg after his death.
