With a gritty, occasionally left field musical approach tackling tough issues like organised crime, drug abuse, politics and poverty, Fun Lovin' Criminals are best-known for the quirky hits Scooby Snacks and Loco; although their eclectic style encompasses many different forms, endearing them to a devoted following. They originally came together in 1993 after Huey Morgan met Brian Leiser and Steve Borgovini at a club where he worked in New York and, when the booked act failed to turn up, they volunteered to stand in. It led very quickly to a record deal with EMI and they released their debut album Come Find Yourself in 1995, including the self-named single Fun Lovin' Criminal and the hit Scooby Snacks - which featured samples from Quentin Tarantino movies. Borgovini quit the band in 1999 and was eventually replaced by English drummer Mark Reid (aka Frank Benbini) in time for their 2001 album Loco, with the title track becoming their biggest hit single. Subsequent releases fared less well, though they remained a popular live act and returned to form with the good-time Classic Fantastic album in 2010. They also recorded a series of songs with UK rapper Roots Manuva for BBC6 Music using the name Criminal Manuvas.
