Joshua Michael Garrels, born September 25, 1980 in South Bend, Indiana, is an American singer-songwriter. He began his music career with the release of Stone Tree in 2002 and Underquiet in 2003. In 2006, he released Over Oceans, followed by Jacaranda in 2008. Garrels co-founded Small Voice Records in 2005, through which he released several albums including Lost Animals (2009) and Home (2015), the latter of which peaked at Number 83 on the Billboard 200 chart. His album Love & War & The Sea in Between (2011) was named Christianity Today's Album of the Year. In 2012, Garrels collaborated with Mason Jar Music to create the music-documentary movie The Sea in Between, which featured performances on Mayne Island. He has also been involved in charitable efforts, raising funds for World Relief through album downloads on Noisetrade.com.
