Biografia

Originating in Yvelines, French pop-rock band Kyo was formed in 1994 by Nicolas Chassagne (guitar), Benoît Poher (vocals and guitar), Florian Dubos (guitar), and Fabien Dubos (drums) – replaced by Jocelyn Moze in 2018 – who bonded over the music of Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, and Rage Against the Machine. Their eponymous debut album arrived in 2000, charting at number 71 in France, but they hit the ground running with their follow-up effort, Le Chemin. Released in 2003, the LP went to number two in the band's native France, also topping the charts in Belgium, and was awarded Francophone album of the year at the 2004 NRJ Music Awards. Leaning into alt-rock more than previous releases, their third album 300 Lésions spawned several notable singles, including "Sarah" (number 33 in France, number 31 in Belgium, number 65 in Switzerland) and "Contact" (number 8 in France, number 11 in Belgium, number 37 in Switzerland), with the latter featured on the videogame FIFA 06. The group went on hiatus in 2008, but they reunited in 2014 and recorded their fourth album, L'Équilibre, which reached number two in France. They took an electro-pop detour for their fifth album Dans la peau, which went to number 29 in France, and following a four-year gap between albums, re-emerged in 2021 with La part des lions. A new single, "Stand Up," arrived in 2022.
