MADKID, a Japanese male dance and vocal unit, was originally formed as J-BOYS-5 in May 2014 with members KENTO, KAƵUKI, RIKITO, LIN, and YUKI. The group underwent a name change to MADKID in July 2014 and later experienced member changes, with CASEY joining in January 2016 and SHIN in February 2017. Their music incorporates dance and rock elements, showcasing the talents of three vocalists (YOU-TA, KAƵUKI, SHIN) and two rappers (LIN, YUKI). MADKID made their major debut under Nippon Columbia in January 2018 with the single "Never going back" announced during their live performance in September 2017. They gained significant recognition in 2019 with their songs "RISE" and "FAITH" serving as opening themes for the anime The Rising of the Shield Hero with "RISE" achieving over 30 million views on the online video platform by October 2024. The group became independent from their previous agency in 2020, establishing their own management company, Future Notes, led by member YOU-TA, and re-signing with Nippon Columbia. Their involvement in the anime scene and performances in international venues across the United States, Canada, and Germany have marked their expanding presence. Their 3rd album Dropout (2024) adds to their diverse discography that blends energetic dance rhythms with rock influences.
