Paulo Alexandre Nogueira Salgado Martins, widely known as Salgadinho, is a Brazilian singer and songwriter. He was born on January 10, 1970, in São Paulo, Brazil. He began his musical journey as a cavaquinho player and became the lead singer and composer for the renowned pagode group Katinguelê during the 1990s. Under his leadership, the group became hugely popular, producing several hit songs such as "No compasso do criador," "Inaraí," "Recado a Minha Amada," "Um Doce Sabor," "Cilada," "Corpo Lúcido," and "Pra gente matar a saudade." In addition to his work with Katinguelê, Salgadinho co-hosted the program Samba, Pagode, & Cia. on Rede Globo in 1999. In 2001, Salgadinho left Katinguelê to pursue a solo career. He initially explored gospel music, contributing to the Renascer Praise series, including albums like Renascer Praise - Promessa (2002), Renascer Praise 10 (2003), and Renascer Praise - XI (2004). His solo discography expanded with releases like Apostólico (2005) and RP XVII - Novo dia, Novo Tempo (2012). In 2013, Salgadinho shifted back to pagode, releasing Feliz por Ter Você and Canto de Sião. In 2014, he joined the musical project Amigos do Pagode 90, collaborating with other prominent pagode artists from the 1990s, such as Márcio Art, Chrigor, and Netinho de Paula. He continued to release music, including the single "Sol e sal" in 2019, featuring Ferrugem, and the EP Salgadinho Experience in 2020. That same year, he launched Academia do Cavaquinho, an online course teaching the technical aspects of playing the cavaquinho.
