Biografia

Multi-instrumentalist, producer, singer, and rapper Terrace Martin was born in Los Angeles, California on December 28, 1978. While he has had a successful solo career in jazz and hip-hop, he is best-known for his production work on albums by Stevie Wonder, Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar, Busta Rhymes, Raphael Saadiq, and many others. Over the course of his career, Terrace Martin has been nominated for three Grammy Awards and has become one of the most respected artists in both jazz and hip-hop. Born into a musical household – his father Ernest "Curly" Martin is a jazz drummer and Omaha Black Music Hall of Fame member Ernest ‘Curly’ Martin – he was exposed to a wide range of music growing up including jazz, soul, and hip-hop. After Terrace Martin graduated from high school, he attended CalArts, a private university, but left school to pursue a musical career. His entry into the music business included tours with Puff Daddy, gospel choir God’s Property, and others. The jazz and hip-hop communities took notice, and by 2004, he was producing artists such as 213, Warren G, Talib Kweli, Murs, Snoop Dogg. He has also performed with many jazz greats including Herbie Hancock. Terrace Martin released a series of albums under his own name including Signal Flow (2007), Locke High (2008), Here, My Dear (2010), The 4 Luv Suite (2012), 3ChordFold (2013), 3ChordFold: Pulse (2014), Velvet Portraits (2016), and Drones (2021). In 2020, Terrace Martin joined forces with Kamasi Washington, Robert Glasper, and 9th Wonder and announced the formation of  supergroup Dinner Party.
