Born in Copertino, Italy on January 22, 1993, classical pianist Beatrice Rana made an international splash at the age of 18 when she won first prize at the Montreal International Competition in 2011 and the silver prize at the Van Cliburn Competition. Born to professional pianist parents, she learned to play the piano as a child, made her first public appearance at the age of nine and by the time she was a teenager she performed regularly with top orchestras across Europe. Successes at major music competitions led to her debut album Chopin: 26 Préludes; Scriabine: Sonate No. 2 Op. 19 in 2012 followed the next year by Silver Medalist: Fourteenth Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. She has played at festivals and in concert halls around the world and performed with symphony orchestras in Birmingham, Detroit, London, Los Angeles, and Philadelphia. She released Prokofiev: Piano Concerto No. 2; Tchaikovsky: Piano Concerto No. 1 in 2015 and followed that two years later with Bach: Goldberg Variations (2017), which went to Number 1 on the UK Official Specialist Classical Chart. The New York Times named the album one of the 25 best classical music recordings of the year. In July 2017, she performed with the BBC Symphony Orchestra conducted by Andrew Davis in Prom 13: Malcolm Sargent's 500th Prom to mark 50 years since the legendary conductor died. She continued to gain acclaim for her appearances and recordings including Bernstein: The 3 Symphonies (2018), Ravel: The Firebird (2019), and Chopin: 12 Études, Op. 25 & 4 Scherzi (2021), her second Diapason d'Or.
