Catherine Grace Garner, born on September 17, 1996, in Kirkwood, Missouri, began making music as a teenager and started building an audience while working as a hair-salon receptionist outside St. Louis, releasing tracks through SoundCloud and Twitter. In 2019, singles such as “Mine” and “Daddy AF” pushed Slayyyter out of internet-pop circles and into a self-titled mixtape and early headline dates, soon followed by support slots with Charli XCX. She moved from that independent launch into her FADER Label debut album Troubled Paradise in 2021, led by “Troubled Paradise,” “Self Destruct,” and “Throatzillaaa,” then sharpened the Hollywood glamour-and-decay concept on STARFUCKER in 2023 with songs including “Out of Time” and “Miss Belladonna,” while also touring with Tove Lo. In 2024, she issued the standalone single “No Comma.” Her next phase accelerated in 2025, when she signed with Columbia and RECORDS, joined Kesha’s Tits Out tour, appeared on Kesha’s “Attention!” with Rose Gray, and began rolling out the harder-edged singles “BEAT UP CHANEL$,” “CANNIBALISM!,” and “CRANK.” That run led to her third studio album, WOR$T GIRL IN AMERICA, in 2026, a record that pulled her back toward Missouri imagery and a rougher, more personal sound; the album cycle also brought major festival appearances including Coachella, Governors Ball, and Lollapalooza.
