Heloísa Maria Buarque de Hollanda, who performed under the pseudonym Miúcha, was a singer in the música popular Brasileira tradition with a blend of pop, jazz, samba and bossa nova. She died aged 81 on 27th December 2018. She was married formerly to legendary singer-guitarist João Gilberto and their daughter Bebel Gilberto is a Grammy-nominated performer.
Born in Rio de Janeiro, she grew up in São Paulo and later studied in Paris. She made her recording debut in 1975 with the album 'The Best of Two Worlds' with Gilberto and American saxophonist Stan Getz. She performed internationally and released several other albums including 'Miúcha & Antonio Carlos Jobim' (1977) and 'Miúcha com Vinicius, Tom, Joao' (2008) with Tom Jobim and Vinicius de Moraes, which includes two tracks from her first release with Gilberto and Getz.
