Biografia
A revival in garage rock in the early 2000s saw the return of drainpipe jeans, vintage equipment and shaggy, retro haircuts, as guitar groups finally shook off their Brit-pop hangovers and injected some spiky, swaggering cool back into the indie scene. Alongside The Strokes, The White Stripes were hailed as leaders of the new guard and as they stormed around Europe they brought with them fellow Detroit bar band The Von Bondies. Led by front man Jason Stollsteimer, their debut album 'Lack of Communication' was produced by Jack White in 2001 and captured the high energy, scuzzy sound of the dingy, sweaty rock & roll clubs they were born from. The media buzz and cult success of their single 'It Came from Japan' led to tours of Europe and a major label deal with Sire Records for their second album 'Pawn Shoppe Heart' in 2004. It featured a cover of Otis Redding's 'Try a Little Tenderness' and the storming single 'C'mon C'mon', but Stollsteimer had a high profile falling out with White and the band struggled with record company wrangles and line-up changes. They returned with 'Love, Hate and Then There's You' in 2009, which was produced by Butch Walker, but they officially disbanded in 2011.
