Mokado is a French electronic music producer from Paris.
Trained as a percussionist at the Versailles Conservatory, he began his music career as a drummer in an indie rock band before launching his solo project in 2018.
Following in the footsteps of French artists such as Thylacine, Fakear, and Mezerg, he released two electronica EPs composed on the marimba, his signature instrument. He gained attention with his track “Afe,” and followed up with two remixes for Zimmer and You Man.
The Covid period that followed gave him time to compose his debut album Marius, released in 2021. Co-produced by Perceval Carré (L’Impératrice, November Ultra…) and featuring Loïc Fleury from Isaac Delusion on the track “1938,” the album traces the life of his great-grandfather—a poet and traveler—whose journals inspired his first EP.
Shifting his electro-pop style toward catchy melodic techno, Mokado continued his musical explorations with a new EP, Human From, and his second album, Maskoj. Structured around nine traditional masks from around the world, the album features nine tracks inspired by their associated myths and legendary stories. He once again found success with the track “Kikuyu.”
Two years later, Mokado is back with an upcoming third album. After exploring French electronica and melodic techno, the young producer now draws inspiration from UK club music, blending elements of house, breakbeat, and UK garage.
