Drink Up Buttercup was an American band from Philadelphia, formed in late 2007 in Pennsylvania. The ensemble consisted of James Harvey (vocals), Mike Cammarata (drums), Farzad Houshiarnejad (organs, bass, guitar, and percussion), and Ben Money (bass, organs, and percussion). The group made its debut performance at a cigar parlor in its home county. The group released its first 7" single, "Mr. Pie Eyes", through the UK label Make Mine Music. Following the release, the band performed at the CMJ Music Marathon and South by Southwest. In April 2009, the ensemble released a second single, "Farewell Captain", on Kanine Records, which was reviewed by the publication Stereogum. The group's debut studio album, Born and Thrown on a Hook, was released on March 23, 2010, through Yep Roc Records. The work was recorded throughout 2009 by Bill Moriarty and mixed by Rusty Santos. Drink Up Buttercup became inactive in 2010.
