Describing herself playfully as the 'edgy teen who never quite grew out of her edgy phase', 22 year old Singer/Songwriter Alex Wilkinson (based between Leeds and Essex) creates a blend of music that spans an eclectic range of genres and eras.
Alex first began writing and performing music around the age of 15, after a close friend encouraged her to start playing and leant her a guitar, that she never gave back. Since then, Alex has been gigging and performing at various open mics and in support slots around the Cambridge, Bishops Stortford and Essex areas, both as a solo act and as a part of various bands.
With a strong 90's/2000's rock influence, Alex's music finds itself occupying the realms between pop-punk and grunge, resembling the 'overdriven guitar rock' sound similar to that of bands such as Green Day, Paramore and Pearl Jam. However, Alex's emotive songwriting and distinctive vocals create a narrative throughout her music that is similar to that of classic RnB singers such as Etta James, Janis Joplin and Amy Winehouse.
In summer 2021, Alex joined forces with guitarist Alex Holder, bassist Tommy Rose and drummer Paul Williams to form a band and record their very first EP. Recorded from an empty office space turned recording studio (with the help of Stephen Clarke), Alex's debut EP ‘Are We There Yet?’ is set for release Friday 8th July 2022.
