The Detachment Kit is an American indie rock band formed in 1999 in Chicago and consisted of Toddrick Spalding on drums, Josh Hight on bass guitar, Ian Menard on vocals and guitar, and Charlie Davis III on lead guitar. All members were art school students at the time. Their debut release was the Attacks On Bright America EP in 2001, followed by their first full-length album They Raging Quiet Army in 2002. The band gained traction on college radio and built a loyal fanbase through extensive touring. Spalding and Hight left during the writing of their second album, leading to a lineup change for the recording of Of this Blood, released in 2004.
