Jacob Walter (born July 19th, 1996), known professionally as Trippy Ja, is an American record producer and sound engineer. His first major album, The Come Up, was released in March 2019 and accumulated over 5 million streams worldwide. His second studio album, 2020, featuring hit singles “Down with It" and “Giving Up,” released in June 2020, catching the attention of Sony and FrtyFve.
Trippy had his first big break into the industry after releasing his EP titled The Vibe. The EP picked up traction across the west coast and grabbed the attention of Lil Yachty's brother Jban$2Turnt. Soon the two artists released the hit single “Gang,” which accumulated over 2 million streams on Soundcloud and Spotify.
In March 2019, Trippy released his first album, The Come Up, on all major platforms. After the album hit a million streams on Spotify, he came in contact with the YBN (Young Boss N*ggas) collective. Soon collaborating with YBN Nahmir, the project “Imma Ball (feat. Ybn)” was released later that year.
On May 28th, 2020, Trippy announced his feature on Fetty Wap’s Mixtape with the hit single “Banker Be My Witness”. Following the mixtape, he released his second album, 2020, on all platforms June 19th, 2020.
Trippy’s main influencers are artists such as Lil Skies, CashMoneyAp, Metro Boomin, and YBN Nahmir. He is also influenced by rock n roll artists such as Incubus and Red Hot Chili Peppers, pushing the stylistic boundaries of his trap beats.
