Our new single 'Stuck' is out MAY 30!
Melbourne's Self Talk are a five-piece who specialise in high-energy pop-rock, with some punk and emo sensibilities thrown in. Their music is bursting with earworm guitar riffs, sugary synth layers, and irresistible vocal melodies, but the punchy instrumentation belies a more wistful and reflective worldview. With their introspective lyrics, big guitars and hooks that live rent-free in your brain, they channel the spirit of coming-of-age angst into catchy anthems reminiscent of early 2000s pop-punk and indie-rock. Equal parts fun and vulnerable, Self Talk captures the highs and lows of love, longing, and self-discovery, turning big feelings into big choruses that get stuck in your head.
After two EPs and a 7” released on Domestic La La in 2020, Self Talk returned in 2025 their with explosive single ‘Hypothetical Kids’ - an intimate exploration of the anxiety that comes with the possibility of loss, penned by lead singer Stacey Cicivelli when reflecting on her mum’s battle with breast cancer. It’s also deceptively playful, bratty, and a little unhinged, according to triple j’s Anika Luna.
Having shared the stage with the likes of Slowly Slowly, La Dispute, Dear Seattle, and Press Club, Self Talk kicked off 2025 by supporting Melbourne emo royalty, Ceres, and everyone's favourite band, Armlock, on a national tour that finished at Melbourne's iconic Corner Hotel.
